With these works, I wanted to explore the use of human body parts to convey a message. While I was exploring this idea, I came up with a design for eyeglasses and an ear pick both incorporating the use of hands. As you can see in the former, the hands function as the pads that hold the glasses in place at the bridge of the nose. With these glasses, I wanted to convey the message that the lens through which we view the world should not be just in black and white. It should be pure and without prejudice. For me, incorporating the hands into the glasses as pads helped convey this image. likewise, the ear- pick also employs the hand design at one of the ends. My motivation to use this image was similar to the “Shut Up, Please” ring. I wanted to make a statement about how sometimes we are not attentive enough listeners. The ear pick is a very overt way of showing that sometimes we need to remove the things that get in the way of listening.
