The message is one that gives support and assistance to the wearer. They do not bear the weight of the world on their shoulders. Instead, it is the small figure under the shoes that lifts the troubles of the wearer. It plays on the concept of Atlas holding up the world on his shoulders. Even here, however, the message is inverted. Whereas Atlas is imagined to be strong and muscular with incredible strength, these are fragile human figures lifting up the wearer. It is a positive image, one that is supposed to give the wearer a sense of hope and a feeling that someone is there to support her at all times.
