These rings use the figure of a male and female. They are inverted on the ring, so when
the ring-wearer wears the ring, the figures appear upside down. This captures the contradictory
theme I am trying to establish. Whereas traditionally, it is the wearer’s finger that supports the
ring and whatever is affixed on top of the ring, the human figures on the rings support the wearer.

The message is one that gives support and assistance to the wearer. They do not bear the weight of the world on their shoulders. Instead, it is the tiny figure on the end of the ring that lifts the troubles of the wearer. It plays on the concept of Atlas holding up the world on his shoulders. Even here, however, the message is inverted. Whereas Atlas is imagined to be strong and muscular with incredible strength, these are fragile human figures lifting up the wearer. It is a positive image, one that is supposed to give the wearer a sense of hope and a feeling that someone is there to support him or her at all times.
